The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of Russian assault aircraft in 1:72 scale.

Called the best II World War II airplane by many experts, Il-2, the legend of Soviet aviation and one of the symbols of the fight against Germany. The concept of building this machine dates to the 30s and is based on the powerful armor and a lot of universal weaponry. As a result, the plane was slow and have problems with effective turning. Compared to the Thunderbolts or Typhoons, armed with twenty-kilos head rockets, missiles used by Soviets had only one-kilogram heads. Dependent on the airport maximum capability of Sturmovik was from 400 to 600 kg of bombs. While the anti-tank bombs were extremely effective weapons, Il rarely had the chance to hit the target, because... he did not even have a gun target. So what was the legendary effectiveness of these planes? First of all with the amount of Szturmoviks. They operated in groups of 30 or more machines, even if one of them had a problem with a hit in the area of 2km square, the statistics won and the target was finally hit. Such large aircraft formations also bring the panic among German soldiers who call them as Black Death Il. During World War II, the USSR lost more than 10 thousand Ils 2.

The Tamiya kit allows you building the model of the Soviet Iljuszyn Il-2 Sturmovik assault aircraft from World War II. In the box, there are 4 frames with parts of the plane, frame with transparent elements of the fairing of the cab and decals.

Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.

  • Tamiya XF-16 (elements of cockpit and armament)
  • Tamiya XF-56 + XF-7 (exhaust, 5: 1 ratio)
  • Tamiya XF-85 (Suspension elements, wheels)
  • Tamiya X-10 (guns, guns)

Set contains:

  • The assembly instruction.
  • Frames with plastic parts.
  • Decals.
  • Transparent plastic elements.

Kit does NOT contain paints and glue.

Here are the basic tools and materials you need:

  • Pilers for cutting plastic parts.
  • Modeling penknife.
  • File or sandpaper.
  • Cement for plastic models.
