Tamiya 1:35 Sd.Kfz.166 Sturmpanzer IV Brummbar

The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of German self propelled gun in 1:35 scale.

Heavy urban fighting that took place on the Eastern Front showed that extremely effective in such situations are self propelled assault guns. However, Germany did not have a vehicle with weaponry powerful, enough to destroy the entire building. The first prototypes of Stug 33b were doing well, but they were too poorly armored. Therefore engineers focused on the construction of a similar vehicle on the chassis of the Panzer IV. In April 1943 the Brummbär rolled into the battlefield. They had very thick, up to 100 mm front armor and their main armament was a 150 mm howitzer. In the course of combat experience to, defensive armament in the form of MG34 was added. Position of commander was also modified, equipping him with the observation cupola. Brummbärs has proven to be very effective, not only in attack but also in defense. They were used until the end of the war. 

Tamiya’s kit include model of German armored self propelled assault gun Brummbär Sd.Kfz 166 with two crew members. The vehicle can be assembled with additional side armor screens (Schürzen). The box contains: 2 pieces of hull, 5 sprues with model parts, rubber tracks and decals (allow reconstructions of vehicles from the 3rd, 26th, 29th, or 116th Armored Divisions).

Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.

• Tamiya XF-60 or spray TS-3 (armor, Dunkelgelb color)
• Tamiya XF-64 (brown camouflage)
• Tamiya XF-1 (tires)
• Tamiya XF-56 (tracks, equipment elements)

Crew:

• Tamiya XF-65 (uniform)
• Tamiya XF-1 (forage cap, shoes, belt)
• Tamiya XF-15 (skin)

Set contains:

Kit does NOT contain paints and glue.
