Tamiya 1:35 Flakpanzer auf Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.G Wirbelwind

The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of German anti-aircraft vehicle in 1:35 scale.

Along the course of the war, the Germans completely lost air supremacy. Therefore, it was necessary to develop a self-propelled anti-aircraft artillery, which would protect ground forces of the Wehrmacht. One of the vehicles that were created in this way was Wirbelwind, built on the chassis of the Panzer IV tank. Instead of the standard turret, Wirbelwind had an open polygonal turret armed with four coupled FlaK 30 20 mm guns. The turret of the vehicle had to be opened because of a large amount of powder gases produced by the weapon during firing. On the one hand, it caused crew exposure to the attacks of the enemy, on the other hand, it was significantly increasing the field of view. Thanks to that, Wirbelwinds perfectly worked also as anti-infantry. There were produced only about a hundred vehicles of this type, to a large extent using damaged Panzer IV tanks chassis.

Kit from Tamiya includes a model of the German self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle Flakpanzer IV Wirbelwind with 4 crew members. The box contains 1 part of the hull, 8 sprues with model parts, rubber tracks and decals.

Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
