Citadel

Acrylic paints for miniatures and models from Games Workshop, the most popular manufacturer of miniature wargames in the world. The Citadel colour palette is divided into several categories, which make it easier to choose colours for specific miniatures and paint them step by step. There are also paint sets available, dedicated to the next stages of painting, and starter sets (with miniatures), which make it easier for beginners to get started.

Citadel paints are divided into 6 basic types:

Base - the first step of painting, paints with stronger pigment intended for applying base colors to miniatures
Layer - the second step, paints with minimal transparency, intended for lightening colors on miniatures
Shade - inks and washes, intended for obtaining a shadow effect in the nooks and crannies of models
Dry - paints with increased density, specially designed for the dry brush technique (so-called Drybrushing). They are used when lightening the most exposed elements of miniatures and models.
Contrast - a new type of transparent paints for easy painting of miniatures with shading. They are also used in conjunction with the dry brush method in a technique known as "Slap-chop".
Air - paints prepared for use in an airbrush.

In addition to these basic types of paints, Citadel has introduced a whole range of specialist paints (Technical, Texture, Glaze), intended for more advanced painting techniques, and a rich palette of primer sprays, facilitating work on the largest models and large batches of miniatures.

  • Base acrylic paints are used as a colored base for further painting, as the first step in painting figurines. They are applied to a black or white acrylic primer. Thanks to their dense pigment, they cover perfectly after the first painting and leave a matte finish, which makes it easier to paint further highlights and shadows with Layer, Glaze and Shade paints.

  • Layer paints are designed to lighten models. Each color in this palette has two shades to facilitate smooth lightening of models with subsequent layers of paint. Layer paints are slightly transparent, which allows for smooth and natural transitions between shades during painting.

  • Paints designed for the drybrushing technique. They allow for quick and easy "drawing out" of colors on models. The highlight colors complement perfectly with the paints from the Base and Layer lines. Please note that for proper drybrushing you will need an appropriate (durable) brush.

  • Special washes that allow you to add depth to your models and highlight their details. Washes are very thin paints, which makes them easy to apply to all the nooks and crannies of the model, where they dry and create a natural shadow effect.

  • Specialized paints and effects for models and figurines. In this palette you will find effects of rust, patina, blood, dirt, sludge, cracked earth as well as primers, 'Ardcoat (varnish) and Lahmian Medium, a liquid that reduces the coverage of standard paints.

  • Citadel spray paints are a great choice for a base or base color. They are ideal for painting large vehicles, machines and monsters from both Warhammer universes, and for large army projects when we have many similar models to paint.

Citadel sprays have a strong, durable pigment.

They should be used in a well-ventilated room. If the paint does not reach every element of the models during painting - wait for it to dry and repeat the action to avoid streaks, thickening and other imperfections.
