Ultramarines – Pride of the Adeptus Astartes and Pillars of the Imperium

Ultramarines are one of the most renowned and influential Space Marine Chapters in the Imperium. They are the embodiment of discipline, strategy and unwavering loyalty to the Emperor. Descendants of the Primarch Roboute Guilliman, the Ultramarines strive to excel in every aspect of warfare, not only as unbeatable warriors but also as master strategists. Their methods of warfare and organisation, embodied in the legendary Codex Astartes, serve as a model for other Space Marine Chapters.

The Ultramarines Chapter hails from the region of Ultramar, a great empire consisting of thirteen planets that are a symbol of the might and order of the Imperium of Man. The Ultramarines govern their territory with unparalleled efficiency, and their military and civilian administration is considered to be among the most efficient in the galaxy. Their role as both a military and a civilizing one sets them apart from other Chapters.

History and Origin of the Ultramarines

The Ultramarines were founded by Primarch Roboute Guilliman, one of the Emperor's most important commanders during the Great Crusade. Guilliman was not only a formidable warrior, but also a highly skilled organizer and strategist, who developed the Codex Astartes, a set of rules and tactics for warfare that became the foundation for all Space Marine Chapters following the Horus Heresy.

During the Horus Heresy, the Ultramarines played a key role in the defense of the Imperium, although they were partially sidelined by Horus's betrayal. Following the fall of Horus and the death of the Emperor, Guilliman played a central role in stabilizing and rebuilding the Imperium. He instituted reforms that reduced the strength of individual Legions, dividing them into smaller Chapters to prevent future betrayals.

Guilliman was wounded in battle and remained suspended in stasis for many thousands of years. However, in recent events, Guilliman has returned to life, leading the Imperium through the most difficult of times and attempting to rebuild its former strength in the face of galactic threats.
