Tamiya 1:700 IJN Shinano - JAPANESE AIRCRAFT CARRIER

The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of Japanese aircraft carrier in 1:700 scale.

Shinano was an aircraft carrier in the Japanese Imperial Navy during World War II. Shinano was built as the third of the Yamato type battleships (in the literature there is also the classification of Yamato battleships to the class of super-battleships), which were the largest battleships ever built (256 meters long on the waterline). Due to difficulties with supplies and lack of raw materials, the construction of the battleship was stopped in 1940. In 1942, the construction of the ship was continued, but not as a battleship, but as an aircraft carrier. The main artillery and part of the armor were replaced by large-capacity fuel tanks and spare parts warehouses. Launching Shinano took place on October 8, 1944, after which it was included in the Japanese fleet. On November 29, 1944, Shinano was spotted by an American submarine USS Archerfish, which fired six torpedoes towards the aircraft carrier, four of which hit the target. This caused the ships tilt to rise, which could not be controlled anymore, as a result of which Shinano overturned and sank. 120 planes could be aboard the Shinano.

Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
