More info

The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of Japanese battleship in 1:350 scale.

Yamato is a battleship serving in the Japanese Imperial Navy during World War II (in the literature, the classification of Yamato battleships to the class of super-battles is also found). Yamato, along with the Musashi, were the largest battleships ever built (256 meters long on the waterline). It has the main artillery in the form of nine 460mm guns. The maximum weight of the triple-gun tower was 2774 tons. Yamato keel was laid in 1937, while the launching of the ship took place on August 1940. In 1943, the armor of the medium-caliber artillery was improved and the 155 mm side gun towers were removed, replacing them with 25mm anti-aircraft guns. In June 1944 it was present during the Battle of the Philippine Sea. The only occasion when it used its main artillery against the enemys ships was the battle in Leyte Bay. In April 1945, Yamato was sent on a suicide mission to Okinawa to defend the island against an American attack. On April 7, Yamato has been sunk by American bombers and torpedo aircrafts. It was the last battleship in history to be destroyed in the battle.
