Electronic Speed Controllers (ESC) – The Heart of Your Model's Powertrain

Controllers, commonly known as ESCs (Electronic Speed Controllers), are a key electronic component in any electric-powered remote-controlled model. Their main task is to precisely control the motor's rotational speed. The ESC receives a signal from the receiver and, based on it, delivers the appropriate amount of current from the battery to the motor, allowing for smooth acceleration and deceleration. Our offer includes controllers dedicated to two main types of motors: brushed, used in simpler models for beginners, and brushless, which offer significantly higher efficiency, power, and lifespan, being the standard in competitive and recreational RC hobbies.

How to Choose the Right ESC for Your RC Model?

Selecting the right controller is crucial for the model's trouble-free operation and performance. When choosing an ESC, you should pay attention to several key parameters. The most important of these is the maximum continuous current (expressed in amperes, A), which must be higher than the current drawn by the motor at full load. Equally important is the operating voltage, which must be compatible with your battery pack (e.g., 2S, 3S, 6S LiPo). Many ESCs have a built-in BEC (Battery Eliminator Circuit) system, which powers the receiver and servos directly from the main battery. For more advanced or larger models, OPTO (without BEC) versions are used, with the electronics powered separately by an external UBEC module. It's also worth checking if the controller has features specific to your model type, such as reverse and brake for RC cars, waterproofing for boats, or governor mode for helicopters.
