Tamiya 1:72 Bell X-1 Mach Buster

The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of American prototype aircraft in 1:72 scale.

Despite the great leap in the development of aviation during World War II, there were still barriers, which no one had ever defeated. One of them was the sound barrier. In 1946 in the United States in cooperation with the USAF and NACA work has begun on the project of aircraft, capable of exceeding the speed of sound on flight level. The project was based on plans, submitted by the British during the war. The plane profile was based on the 0.50-inch bullet so that it had the least possible air resistance. It was powered by rocket engine, and the pressure in the cabin and fuel tanks was stabilized by nitrogen. In addition, machine included a most modern equipment designed to monitor the flight. Finally, after many test flights, on 14 October 1947 Captain Charles Yeager made the breakthrough flight at the speed of 1.06 Mach (1100 km/h). This aircraft took part in the course of further research, trials, and tests, and beaten another speed records.

Tamiya kit allows you to assembly American experimental aircraft Bell X-1 Mach Buster model. Box includes 2 sprues, base, metal weight, decals (allows reconstruction of the Glamorous Glennis plane) and two transparent elements of the hull, allowing assembly of a model with the exposed interior.

Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.

• Tamiya X6 + X-27 (hull, 8:1 ratio)
• Tamiya XF-20 (inside of the fuselage)
• Tamiya XF-1, X-18, XF-20 (pilot cockpit panel, elements of components)
• Tamiya X-11 (vessel with the nitrogen, elements of components)
• Tamiya XF-4 (gas and fuel tanks)
• Tamiya XF-16 (engine elements and pressurization)
• Tamiya X-10, X-11 (engine elements)
