Tamiya 1:72 JAS-39A Gripen

The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of Swedish fourth generation turbo-jet fighter in 1:72 scale.

The most advanced fighter produced in the Scandinavian countries is the JAS-39 Gripen. Constructed by the Swedish concern SAAB, it was introduced in 1993 and is in active service today. The Gripen is a lightweight multi-purpose hunting, assault, and reconnaissance aircraft. It is fully aligned with NATO standards and is very popular as an export aircraft. In the years 1995-2011 BAE Systems was involved in the production and sale of export aircraft for export. To date, more than 200 JAS-39 aircraft have been manufactured. Most of them are in the Swedish air forces service, others in the Czech Republic, Hungary, South Africa and Thailand.

The Tamiya kit allows building a modern Swedish JAS-39A multi-purpose aircraft Gipen. The box contains 2 frames with parts of the aircraft, a transparent cockpit cover, and a decal.

Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.

Paints suggested by the manufacturer for the best effect:

• Tamiya XF-66 (camouflage)
• Tamiya XF-53 + XF-2 (hull, cockpit, 2: 1 ratio)
• Tamiya X-2 (dashboard, armament, chassis and air intakes)
• Tamiya XF-1 (nose, tires, cockpit elements, and armament)
• Tamiya XF-56 (armament parts, engine exhaust hood)
• Tamiya X-11 (metal parts)

Kit does NOT contain paints and glue.
