The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of American assault aircraft in 1:72 scale.
When the first of the Corsairs came to serve as a counterweight to the Japanese Zeros, it turned out that because of poor visibility from the cockpit of the aircraft it is not suitable to serve on aircraft carriers. This was caused by using a propeller with a large diameter for powerful engine of the aircraft. While the first version was put to the Marine Corps squadrons, engineers still carried out work on the on-deck version of Corsair. Version F4U-1D was equipped with a raised cockpit and the rear wheel mount. As a result, visibility improved and aircraft could operate from the decks of aircraft carriers. This version was also equipped with gondolas to mount conventional and napalm bombs, and rockets. Thanks to that, Corsair has proven to be very versatile fighter and attack plane.
Tamiya plastic model kit includes parts allowing assembly of the American fighter aircraft Vought F4U-1D Corsair. Box includes 2 sprues, transparent cockpit, and decals.
Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
Paints recommended by the manufacturer for best results:
- Tamiya spray AS-8 (hull)
- Tamiya XF-3 + XF-5 (cockpit, landing gear compartment, the proportions of 2:1)
