The formula of these paints is designed to achieve a smooth and even surface, which is especially crucial in modeling vehicles, aircraft, or figurines. How to Use LP Series Paints? Tips and Techniques

The LP series lacquers are primarily intended for airbrush use. Due to the rapid evaporation of the solvent, attempts to brush-paint larger surfaces usually result in unsightly streaks. For best results, the model surface should be properly prepared beforehand, using a suitable primer such as Tamiya Surface Primer. The paint must be thoroughly mixed before use. Dilution should be done with the dedicated Tamiya Lacquer Thinner (87077) or Lacquer Thinner Retarder Type (87194). The standard thinner works well in most cases, while the retarder version extends drying time, giving the paint more time to level perfectly on the model's surface. This is especially useful when painting in higher temperatures or low humidity. Remember that these lacquers are solvent-based and strong, so painting should be done in a well-ventilated area with the use of a protective mask equipped with an organic vapor cartridge.
