At the beginning of the 60s, the project of the new carrier-capable assault aircraft began, which was to replace the outdated, piston Skyriders. One of the objectives of this project was the ability to operate the machine in any weather conditions. A-6 Intruder entered service in the Navy and Marines already in 1963. It was a twin-engine, two seated jet capable of carrying up to 8 tons of weapons and range of 5 thousand kilometres. Aircraft was equipped with the latest guidance systems, which have been successively upgraded in future versions, the latest of which was the E version, introduced into service in 1970. Intruders have participated in all US conflicts and interventions, ranging from the Vietnam War to withdraw from service in 1997.
