Application

Tamiya XF-24 Dark Grey paint is designed for precise painting of plastic models, especially for model kits. It is compatible with other paints from the Tamiya series (labeled X- and XF-), allowing for color mixing according to modeling instructions. Suitable for both brush painting and airbrushing.

Surface Preparation

The model surface should be clean, dry, and degreased. For the best results and durability of the coat, it is recommended to apply a primer. We suggest using Tamiya Surface Primer.

Painting Techniques

Brush Painting

Small areas can be painted without thinning.
For larger surfaces, light thinning with water is recommended.
To extend drying time, you can add Tamiya Acrylic Paint Retarder.

Airbrush Painting

Thin the paint in a 1:1 ratio with thinner Tamiya X-20A for optimal flow.
Stronger thinners such as Lacquer Thinner or Mr. Levelling Thinner can be used for better paint flow, though their smell is more intense.
It is recommended to use respiratory protection, work in a ventilated area, or in a spray booth with fume extraction.

Color Compatibility and Mixing

Tamiya paints are considered a standard color set in many plastic models, thus modeling instructions often refer to paint numbers starting with X- or XF-. If a specific shade is needed, paints can be mixed in the recommended proportions, e.g., XF-1:2 + XF-4:1.
