Compatibility: ideal for painting plastic models and parts made from other modeling materials
Application and Compatibility
Tamiya XF-67 NATO GREEN is dedicated to detailed painting of plastic models, dioramas, and miniatures used in scale modeling. Its military NATO-standard color allows for accurate reproduction of military vehicles, figures, and other modeling accessories. Many model instructions are based on Tamiya paint codes (X- and XF-), making it easy to select matching colors from other brands as well.
Preparation for Painting
Surfaces should be clean and degreased.
Applying a primer, e.g., Tamiya Surface Primer, is recommended to improve adhesion and durability of the paint coating.
Painting Techniques
Brush Painting
Priming is recommended before brush painting. For small surfaces, the paint can be applied neat. For larger areas, it is advisable to dilute lightly with water. Adding Tamiya Acrylic Paint Retarder extends drying time and facilitates precise application.
Airbrush Painting
For airbrushing, the paint should be diluted in a 1:1 ratio with thinner Tamiya X-20A. This dilution ensures smooth flow without clogging the nozzle and has a moderate odor. For better paint flow, stronger thinners such as Lacquer Thinner or Mr. Levelling Thinner can also be used, though they have a more intense smell.
When using an airbrush, it is recommended to wear a face mask and work in a ventilated area with extraction.
Color Mixing
To achieve the correct shade in certain models, it is recommended to mix paints in specified proportions. An example instruction is mixing XF-1:2 with XF-4:1, meaning 2 parts of XF-1 with 1 part of XF-4. These techniques allow precise color matching to the model's requirements.
