More info

Green Stuff World DECAL SOFTENER, 17ml, is an advanced modeling solution designed by the renowned company Green Stuff World. It's an essential tool for every modeler aiming to achieve a perfect and realistic finish on their models, especially when applying waterslide decals.

Main Application

The primary purpose of DECAL SOFTENER is to chemically soften the decal film. This makes even the most stubborn decals flexible and pliable, allowing them to perfectly conform to any irregular model surfaces, such as rivets, recesses, raised details, panel lines, or other structural features. The product effectively eliminates the "silvering" effect (visible air bubbles trapped under the decals), ensuring applied markings look like an integral part of the paintwork, rather than just a sticker.

Key Product Features

  • Softens Decal Film: Ensures excellent adhesion of decals to complex shapes and fine surface details of the model.
  • Eliminates Silvering: Prevents unsightly air bubbles from forming under the decal, significantly enhancing realism.
  • Enhances Adhesion: Increases decal adhesion to the surface, minimizing the risk of peeling or damage in the future.
  • Precise Application: The 17ml bottle features a precise applicator (brush in the cap), facilitating controlled dispensing of the correct amount of liquid.
  • Versatility: Effective for all types of waterslide decals, regardless of manufacturer or model scale.
  • Surface Safe: The formula is designed not to damage previously applied paint layers (acrylics, enamels, lacquers) or clear coats.

How to Use

For optimal results, the following application method is recommended:

  1. Ensure the surface where the decal will be applied is clean, dry, and coated with a glossy varnish, which promotes better adhesion.
  2. Position the decal on the desired spot, using water for placement. Gently remove excess water, but do not let it dry completely.
  3. Apply a small drop of DECAL SOFTENER directly onto the applied decal, spreading it evenly with a brush.
  4. Allow the liquid to sit on the decal for a few minutes. You will notice the decal beginning to soften and conform to the surface details. If necessary, gently press the decal with a brush or cotton swab to help it settle into recesses.
  5. Once the liquid has completely dried (usually from several minutes to a few hours, depending on conditions), the decal will adhere permanently to the surface, without visible edges or silvering.
  6. For additional protection and a uniform finish, it is recommended to seal the decal with a clear varnish layer after it has dried.

Compatibility

Green Stuff World DECAL SOFTENER is compatible with a wide range of modeling materials. It can be safely used on plastic, resin, and metal surfaces, as well as those painted with acrylic, enamel, and lacquer paints. It also works perfectly with other decal application products, such as decal setters, providing a comprehensive solution for achieving a professional finish.
