Tamiya X-26 CLEAR ORANGE Acrylic Paint is a high-quality model paint, essential for any modeler's workshop. Available in a convenient 23 ml bottle, this paint features an intense, transparent orange shade, ideal for details requiring a transparent effect or for creating colored layers. It is an alcohol-based acrylic paint, ensuring excellent coverage and adhesion to plastic model surfaces.
Key Features and Applications
Tamiya acrylic paints, including the X-26 CLEAR ORANGE, are widely recommended for painting plastic models, resin parts, and other modeling components. Their formula is optimized for ease of application and coating durability. Tamiya X-26 paint is particularly useful for:
Painting transparent parts, such as position lights, turn signals, or windows (as a colored layer).
Creating color effects on transparent model parts.
Standard painting of details and surfaces in scale modeling.
The paint's low odor intensity (rating ●●○○○) ensures a comfortable working environment while allowing for precise color application.
Surface Preparation and Compatibility
Before painting with Tamiya X-26, it is recommended to thoroughly clean and degrease the model's surface. For the best results and a durable finish, using a primer, such as Tamiya Surface Primer spray, is recommended. Applying the paint directly to plastic may result in weaker adhesion and a less aesthetic final result.
Tamiya paints are a standard in the modeling industry. Many Tamiya model assembly guides, as well as those from other manufacturers, specify suggested paint colors using Tamiya's numbering (X- or XF- designations). These paints can also be mixed with each other to achieve unique shades, for example, according to the proportions provided in the model instructions.
Application Methods
Brush Painting
For brush painting, especially small areas, Tamiya X-26 paint can be applied without thinning. For larger areas, the paint can be gently thinned with clean water to facilitate even spreading. To extend drying time and improve paint flow during longer painting sessions, a small amount of acrylic paint retarder, such as Tamiya Acrylic Paint Retarder, can optionally be added.
Airbrushing
Tamiya X-26 acrylic paint is perfectly suited for airbrush application. It is recommended to thin the paint in a 1:1 ratio with the dedicated Tamiya X-20A thinner. This combination ensures optimal paint flow through the airbrush nozzle, minimizing clogging risk. Despite its relatively low odor intensity, when airbrushing, the use of respiratory protection in the form of a mask is recommended, ideally in conjunction with a spray booth with vapor extraction. Optionally, for even better paint dispersion, stronger thinners such as Lacquer Thinner or Mr. Levelling Thinner can be used, keeping in mind their more irritating odor and the necessity of ensuring proper ventilation.
