Tamiya XF-2 FLAT WHITE acrylic paint is a high-quality, 23ml matte model paint designed for precise painting of plastic models, dioramas, and other modeling projects. It features an intense, flat white shade, perfect for base coats or details requiring a non-glossy finish.
Tamiya acrylic paints, known for their excellent adhesion and ease of application, are a standard in the modeling world. The manufacturer Tamiya ensures color consistency in its model instructions, often designating required paints with X- (gloss) or XF- (matte) symbols, which simplifies selecting the correct shade for a specific model.

Application and Preparation
For optimal results, surfaces to be painted should be thoroughly cleaned and degreased. It is recommended to use a dedicated primer, such as Tamiya Surface Primer, to ensure better paint adhesion and a more aesthetic finish, especially when brush painting.
Brush Painting:
Small components can be painted with Tamiya XF-2 without thinning. For painting larger surfaces, the paint can be lightly thinned with clean water for better spread. To extend drying time and facilitate work on larger areas, it is recommended to add a small amount of Tamiya Acrylic Paint Retarder.
Airbrush Painting:
Tamiya acrylic paints are highly recommended for airbrush application. To achieve the optimal consistency for spraying, the paint should be thinned in a 1:1 ratio with Tamiya X-20A Thinner. This mixture ensures smooth flow through the airbrush nozzle, minimizing the risk of clogging. Despite the relatively low scent intensity, it is recommended to use respiratory protection and work in a well-ventilated room or with a spray booth with fume extraction.
Alternatively, for even smoother coatings and better spreading, stronger thinners such as Tamiya Lacquer Thinner or Mr. Color Levelling Thinner can be used; however, please note that these have a more intense scent.
Color Mixing Tips
Tamiya paints can be mixed together to achieve custom shades. Model instructions often provide mixing ratios, for example, "XF-1:2 + XF-4:1" means mixing XF-1 and XF-4 paints in a 2:1 ratio (e.g., 2ml of XF-1 paint to 1ml of XF-4 paint), which allows for the precise reproduction of specific colors.
