Application and Preparation for Painting

Application Methods
Airbrushing
Tamiya LP-44 Lacquer performs exceptionally well when airbrushing. Thanks to its consistency and lacquer paint composition, it ensures excellent flow through the airbrush nozzle, minimizing the risk of clogging. The recommended paint dilution is a 1:1 ratio with the dedicated Tamiya Lacquer Thinner. For an even smoother surface and better paint leveling, a retarder thinner like Lacquer Thinner Retarder Type can be used.
Precautions: When airbrushing with Tamiya LP paints, it is recommended to use respiratory protection (e.g., a mask) and work in a well-ventilated area, preferably with a spray booth equipped with fume extraction.
Brush Painting
Due to their strong solvent content, Tamiya LP lacquer paints are not recommended for brush painting large areas. Brush application can lead to damage to previously applied layers and the formation of undesirable streaks. Brush painting should be limited to small details, touch-ups, or precise, small areas.
