The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of Japanese fighter in 1:48 scale.
One of the biggest threats to the Japanese installations in the Pacific and to the native islands were American heavy bombers. There was a need to create a high-speed and high-performance interceptor. Work on this machine has been going on since 1938, but because of the unreliable engine, they were not a priority. The arrival of new American B-29 bombers caused the fighter to return to grace. Its climb speed and reachable ceiling made it the only Japanese fighter aircraft capable of intercepting Superfortress on time. His armament, in a 4mm 20mm gun mounted in the wings, also spoke in his favor due to the sufficient firepower to destroy the B-29s. The Raidens took an active part in defending the Japanese islands but they were too little produced to be a real danger against the American bombers.
The Tamiya kit allows building the Mitsubishi J2M3 Raiden Japanese fighter with a pilot figurine. The box includes 2 frames with model elements, wings, a frame with transparent parts and decals (allow reconstruction of machines from groups 302, 352 or Genzan group).
Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
Paints suggested by the manufacturer for the best effect:
Plane:
Tamiya XF-11 or AS-1 spray (green camouflage)
Tamiya XF-12 or AS-2 spray (airplane belly)
Tamiya X-18 (cockpit elements)
Tamiya X-13 or XF-5 (airplane interior and cockpit)
Tamiya X-10 (engine, armament)
Tamiya XF-16 (cockpit, engine and suspension components)
