The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of American patrol aircraft in 1:48 scale.
P-51 Mustang fighter has been accidentally got to US air forces, as a result of the NAA (North American Aviation) cooperation with the British, a prototype NA-73 was built, two of which were delivered to the USAAF at the end of 1940. As a result of the RAF test and combat experience, the production of a Merlin engined aircraft was launched in the United States (Allisons production in the USA). Such modified engines were sent to the US Air Force under the designation P-51B. Airplanes were equipped with an additional fuel tank behind the pilots seat, and two suspended tanks. Thanks to that, they were able to escort the bombers all the way to the target. High ceiling and high speed were also the advantages of this construction. Arming, in turn, was four powerful 12.7 mm Browning MGs and two rails with the ability to suspend bombs. The P-51s achieved the greatest number of down slips among Allied fighters, gaining pilots trust and history as one of the legends of fighter aviation.
The Tamiya kit allows building the American North American P-51B Mustang together with the pilot. The box contains 2 frames with model elements, a frame with transparent parts, and decals (allow the reconstruction of the 336, 339 or 358 Fighter Squadron USAAF).
Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
