More info

The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of American assault aircraft in 1:48 scale.

Thunderbolts for a very long time were the primary US Air Force fighter. Highest speed (630 km / h), excellent armament (8 Browning MGs) were undeniable advantages of the design. The plane was also very well armored and very durable. His only drawback was the high turning radius, which worked to his detriment in classic fights. In 1944, after the entry into service of the P-51 Mustang aircraft, with weaker armament but greater speed, range, and maneuverability, the P-47 received new missions. The design was able to carry extra armament and was immediately directed to the assault role. By the end of the war, Thunderbolts had dropped more than 132,000 tons of bombs and fired almost 60 thousand. rockets and 125 million rifles. In total, in the air and on the ground, they destroyed more than 12 thousand enemy machines.

Tamiyas kit allows building the American P-47D Thunderbolt Bubbletop (model with fully-glazed cabin). An airplane can be built together with additional fuel tanks, rockets or bombs. In the box, there are 5 frames with elements of the model, frame with transparent parts of the cabin and decals (allow reconstruction of machines of 84 or 551 Hunting Squadron).

Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.

  • Tamiya XF-62 or AS-6 spray (air ridge, additional armament)
