The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of Japanese seaplane in 1:48 scale.
Japanese plans for expansion in the far east reached out to most of the islands of Asia and Oceania. Rich in resources, primarily in oil and rubber, were the primary objective of the Japanese, in need of materials to become independent of the economy. However, large numbers of fighter planes were needed to cover the landing fleets and the Imperial Navy suffered from the lack of aircraft carriers. The construction of the airports, in turn, was very expensive and time-consuming. So the Japanese decided to build seaplanes, stationed in bases-anchors in the atolls. One such machine was the A6M2-N, built on the basis of the Zero fighter. One float and two stabilizers were added to the structure. This required slight changes in the aircrafts avionics and in the construction of the panels. Armament remained unchanged - 2 guns in the wings and 2 guns in the hull. Work on the new seaplane ended in 1942 and was immediately directed to production. Over 300 of these fighters were built, and the most important roles were played by the Pacific Islands, the Aleutians, the Kuril Islands and the Solomon Islands.
The Tamiya kit allows building the Japanese Nakajima A6M2-N fighter together with the pilot. The box contains 2 frames with model elements, wings, a frame with transparent parts and decals.
Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
