The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of Japanese seaplane in 1:48 scale.
The Japanese doctrine of aerial warfare assumed the existence of naval flotillas for various types of seaplanes - from fighters, bombers to reconnaissance aircraft. Inspired by B-25 bombing raids by Mitchell Lieutenant Colonel. James Doolittle on the Japanese islands decided to take steps towards a similar retaliatory strike. Work on the new seaplane was entrusted to Aichi, and the specification of the new construction also included transport and take-off from a submarine catapult. The first prototypes of the new aircraft were completed in 1943 and production began a year later. A two-seater machine could carry a load of 800 kg of torpedoes or 850 kg of bombs over a range of 2,000 km. By the end of the war, only 28 Seirans were produced. Their first planned attack was to be carried out on the Panama Canal, fortunately for the Allies, before it came to a conclusion Japan surrendered.
The Tamiya kit allows building the Aichi M6A1 Seiran seaplane together with a pilot and bombardier figurines. The box contains 4 frames with model elements, a transparent frame with parts and decals.
Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
