More info

The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of British medium tank in 1:35 scale.

Stagnation on the western front and unsuccessful, the senseless and bloody offensive of both sides forced a change in the way the fighting was fought during the First World War. The cavalry, which had so far been used to break the line or flank of the enemy, had to go away because of the massive use of machine guns and artillery. The British have come up with the idea of constructing a battleship vehicle, heavily armed and rifled. Thanks to the use of a track drive, the vehicle was able to overcome the lunar landscape of no-mans land, destroying enemy lines and positions along the way while paving the way for the infantry. The project met with great interest, and the first prototypes were completed as early as 1915. Little Willie and Mother were slow and heavy vehicles, but both tested very promising. Based on them, 3 short test series were constructed, some of the tanks also took part in combat. The first vehicle that appeared on the large-scale front was Mark IV. It was more heavily armored than his predecessors (Germans began to use anti-tank ammunition for MGs), minor changes were made to the propulsion system, and fuel was transferred to the rear of the vehicle. The tank was built in two versions, Male, armed with 2 6-pound guns mounted on sideboards, and 3 MGs, or Female, armed with 5 guns. On November 20, 1917, 381 Mark IV vehicles took part in the offensive at Cambrai. Within 2 days the Germans were repatriated for 10 km, but they were not able to maintain the area due to the poor cooperation of the tanks and troops. However, the offensive has shown how great potential is in the new type of weapon and has guaranteed it a permanent place among other types of armies.

The Tamiya kit allows building a model of the British Mark IV Tank in the World War I era. The kit also includes 5 British soldiers (3 sergeants, officer, gunner). In the box, there is an electric motor, racking, mounting screws, battery socket and plastic parts: 8 frames with parts of the vehicle, crawlers, 2 frames with parts of the soldiers. In addition, twine for tow rope, chains and decals (allow to reconstruct vehicle from Battalion B, G or H).

Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
