Tamiya 1:48 North American F-51D Mustang Korean War

The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of American assault aircraft in 1:48 scale.

Mustangs fighter was unquestionably one of the best fighters of World War II. Version D was recognized as the target, the most developed model. It reached a speed of 703 km / h, had a ceiling of nearly 13 km and its armament was 6 MGs 12.7mm mounted in the wings and optionally armed with rockets or bombs under the wings. Times of his glory ended with the start of the era of jets. When the Korean War was begun, machines stationed in occupied Japan were waiting to be scrapped. Once again, however, they were restored to service, but this time for another purpose. The maneuverability and speed corresponded to the role of an assault aircraft, but the fire-retardant capability resulted in high losses. Of the 194 lost Mustangs, less than 5% were strangled in air duels.

Tamiya kit allows building a North American F-51D Mustang with a pilot from the Korean War era. The box contains 2 frames with model elements, a transparent frame with parts and decals (allow the reconstruction of the 336, 339 or 358 Fighter Squadron USAAF).

Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
