The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of American fighter in 1:48 scale.
At the end of the 30s, command of the US Navy reported a demand for a high-speed fighter. The most powerful aircraft engine of this period was the Pratt &, Whitney XR-2000 Double Wasp, so it was decided to use it in the construction of a new machine. A big problem turned out, however, due to the large propeller having a diameter of up to 4 meters. It was therefore decided to design the profile of broken wings. This resulted in the reduction of visibility from the cockpit while circling, which disqualified the fighter plane as a carrier-based. The first batch of Corsairs went to the Marine Corps. Project modifications were made and so was a F4U-1A introduced. It had a raised cockpit, which allowed successfully operation from the decks of US aircraft carriers. Armed with 6 powerful 0.5-inch HMG-s it was one of the best American fighters, successfully coping with every Japanese machine.
Tamiya plastic model kit allows assembly of the American fighter Vought F4U-1A Corsair with two versions of the pilot (sitting in the cockpit and standing outside). Box includes 4 sprues with parts, sprue with transparent elements (deflectors, visors, lamps) and decals (allow for reconstruction of machines from the Navy and U.S.A. Marine Corps).
Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
Paints recommended by the manufacturer for best results:
- Tamiya XF-18 + Tamiya XF-2 (light blue camouflage, proportions 3:1), or Tamiya AS-19
