The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of German first generation turbo-jet fighter in 1:48 scale.
The Tamiya kit allows building the model of the German Heinkel He 162 A-2 Salamander fighter jet from the WWII period, together with the pilot. When it turned out that the Allied superiority could only offset technological superiority, work on a new fighter plane began. The Heinkel project was flushed and put into production less than 3 months after its inception. The Salamander had a simple construction, was relatively inexpensive and easy in production. The first unit JG 1 was fully equipped with these machines in April 1945, so they were unable to change the course of the war. The plane itself, however, set the trend for modern jet aircraft and was one of the most successful of its kind, beating the speed records. The kit also includes a spare trolley motor that can be used to create a unique diorama.
The box contains 4 frames with parts of the model, frame with transparent elements of the fairing, metal weight and decals (allow reconstruction of aircraft with JG 1 or 2).
Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
Paints suggested by the manufacturer for the best effect:
Plane:
Tamiya spray AS-23, AS-24 (hull and camouflage)
Tamiya spray AS-5 (aircraft belly)
Tamiya X-11 + XF-16 (1: 1) or AS-12 spray (engine inlet and outlet)
Tamiya XF-1 (tail ridge of the aircraft, frame fairing cabins)
