More info
The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of American armored transporter in 1:35 scale.
At the beginning of the 70s, the US Marine Corps has requested a new landing vehicle. During the Vietnam War, it turned out that a previous amphibious LVPT-5 is outdated, slow and too poorly armored. Already in 1972, new vehicle AAVP7 was incorporated into the Corps. It was much better armored and much more mobile, both in water and on land. In 1982, the first program of modernization of the amphibious type was launched. In the new AAVP7A1 transporters there were more powerful engines, new gearbox, smoke grenade launchers installed and armor was reinforced. A number of fire protection as additional fans, protection of fuel tanks were introduced and electrical installations instead of hydraulic one were installed. The main armament of the vehicle remained 40mm M19 grenade launcher and an additional HMG M2HB .50. The crew of the vehicle is 4 soldiers, in addition, it is able to carry a landing of 25 fully armed Marines. The vehicle remains in the service of the Marine Corps to this day, but there are plans to its phasing out in favor of more modern design - EFV (Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle).
Tamiya kit allows assembly of the American amphibious armored personnel carrier AAVP7A1 model, along with two members of the crew (commander, driver). Box includes 2 hull pieces, 4 sprues with model elements, string, rubber tracks, and decals.
Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
Paints recommended by the manufacturer for best results:
