More info

The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of Russian light tank in 1:35 scale.

The BT tanks were an extension of the concept of fast-paced cavalry vehicles on the battlefield - leaving behind the front line. The construction was based on the design of American engineer Walter Christi, with an independent suspension system. Tanks of this type were extremely fast and responsive and did well in the terrain. The BT-7 was the last in the family of light vehicles (BT-2, BT-4, and BT-5), and its production began in 1935. Changes to the previous versions concerned primarily the hull and propulsion system. The armament, or rather the whole tower, was identical to that of the BT-5. The main armament consisted of a 45 mm cannon, an additional 1 DT MG. It turned out that the BT tanks are too weakly armored and armed, resulting in very heavy losses. Production ended in 1941, and the entire economic potential was focused on their successors - T-34.

The Tamiya kit allows building the model of the Soviet light tank BT-7 from the Second World War, and two figures (officer and tank). In the box, there are 6 frames with elements of the tank, a frame with transparent parts (headlights, etc.), photo etched parts of the engine cover, chains, and decals (allow reconstruction of the tank in Soviet service or captured German vehicle).

Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.

Paints suggested by the manufacturer for the best effect:

  • Tamiya XF-4 + XF-58 (armor, 1: 1 ratio)
  • Tamiya XF-2 (markings)
