The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of Japanese medium tank in 1:35 scale.
The armored war in the Far East and the Pacific was very difficult because armored forces of countries such as Japan grew much more slowly and on a smaller scale. Japanese experience was limited to lost battles with Soviet Russia on the Khalkhin Gol River. As a result of these clashes, it turned out that the Type 97 Chi-Ha tanks are too poorly armed. In 1940, work began on the modification of the vehicle, which ended up in the installation of a new larger turret with 57 mm Type 1 gun. In the later period, this equipment has changed as well, for the 47 mm Type 97 gun, with higher muzzle velocity. The new tank was named Type 97 Shinhoto Chi-Ha. It took part in battles in Philippines, Okinawa, Burma, and China. Until the end of the war, there were fewer than 1,000 Type 97 tanks in this version produced.
Tamiya kit allows assembly of the Japanese Type 97 Chi-Ha Shinhoto medium tank. Box includes 2 parts of hull, 3 sprues with tank parts, rubber tracks and decals (allows reconstruction of the vehicle from either 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 11th or 13th Tank Regiments).
Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
