The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of Finnish self propelled gun in 1:35 scale.
Despite losing in the Winter War, the Finns inflicted significant losses to the Red Army and gained a large amount of equipment. All alone and not having neither facilities nor the ability to expand its army, they modified captured vehicles with any equipment available. One such construction was BT-42 light assault tank, based on Soviet BT-7. The hull remained unchanged, while turret was completely rebuilt. The new turret had installed 4.5-inch howitzers, received from the British. The tank was designed to fight against fortified enemy positions and his armored forces. While in the first case it was superb, it was not able to take the fight and even damage modern Soviet tanks as T-34, not to mention heavily armored KV. There were only 18 vehicles of this type produced, surviving vehicles have been withdrawn from service after fights of Vyborg in 1944.
Tamiya plastic model kit allows assembly of Finnish BT-42 assault gun model. Box includes a part of the hull, 8 sprues with model parts, photo-etched parts and decals.
Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
