The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of British medium tank in 1:35 scale.
After losing most of the armored forces at Dunkirk, the British were faced with the problem of rebuilding their whole armored core. It was decided to start working on a new cruiser tank, the successor to the Crusader. The first project was the Cavalier, which was rejected due to poor performance, insufficient armor and weaponry and massive failures. In further studies, the main obstacle was the lack of an engine power in the new tank. The new A27 project was launched anyway, and the first copies made under the name of Centaur were equipped with obsolete Liberty engines, which remembered times of the Great War. In 1943, serial production of new Meteor engines started, which was the target engine of A27 Tanks. Tanks equipped with this power unit were called Cromwell. Most of the Centaurs were equipped with Meteor engines, some of them, however, was used as a close air support tanks. They were rearmed with 95 mm howitzers and sent to command platoon at the levels of the reconnaissance regiments companies or independent support branch.
Tamiya kit allows assembly of the British close support cruiser tank Mk. VIII A27L Centaur C.S. Mk. IV model along with commander and loader figurines. Box includes part of the hull, 6 sprues with parts, transparent elements of headlights, string, rubber tracks and decals (allows reconstruction of vehicles of the 1st Armored Support Regiment or 5. Independent Battery belonging to the Royal Marines Armoured Support Group).
Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
