The kit proposed by Tamiya company includes a plastic model kit of Italian self propelled gun in 1:35 scale.
Italians aspiring to be the military power, inspired by the effectiveness of German StuG assault guns during the campaign in France, began work on a similar vehicle of their own. The project decided to premise on a new, quite successful M13/40 tank. Its main armament was decided to be the L18 75 mm cannon, capable of firing both AT and HE ammunition. An additional defensive weapon was a machine gun (Breda M30 or M38) mounted at the upper hatch. Semovente was the best Italian armored vehicle of its period, which, combined with the universal armament allowed it to compete with Allied Crusades and M3’s. Baptism of fire was made in North Africa in Ariete Panzer Division at the beginning of 1942. Self-propelled guns also took part in battles in Italy and the Balkans. After the fall of Mussolini and the capitulation of the Italy, part of the vehicles fell into the hands of the Germans, who used them successfully until the end of the war.
Tamiya kit allows assembly of the Italian Semovente M40 self-propelled gun model with two crew members and an officer. Model with fully mapped combat compartment. Box includes 2 hull pieces, 7 sprues with parts, additional photo-etched for model valorization and decals (allow reconstruction of the vehicle from the African front, Italian front or Ariete Panzer Division).
Plastic parts should be cut out of frames, fit together and glued according to the assembly instruction. You should paint the whole model using modeling paints according to the proposed paint scheme in the instruction. It is important to remember that some plastic parts require painting before gluing. In the end, it is needed to apply decals according to markings or graphics in instruction.
